Now that I have taken part in genius hour for a marking period, how can I relate to the article? Do i agree/disagree with the info in the article? do I have anything to add to the discussion?
The article that I have read from tells about teachers and their experiences with genius hour and really what the whole idea is about. When it comes to relating to the article, I can fully say that everything explained is accurate. The idea of letting kids do what they want for an hour each week is brilliant and it will help kids discover what they are truly passionate about. I am totally all for this idea, I am enjoying it so much. I look forward to my genius hour in my English class every week because for once I don't have to worry about homework or tests or anything stressful. I can just do research on the guitar and find cool videos and just be happy. Lately, it seems as though kids are expected to do so much when it comes to school. There are so many pressures kids in high school have to deal with. Going to college, getting scholarships, getting good grades, and acing all of the tests. This idea gives kids they need: time to do what they want.
